Joe breaks down the very real threat YouTube poses to every hunting creator on the platform. One strike on one video and your entire channel network is gone, permanently, no appeal. He's building a free off-platform community before that happens, and he doesn't know of a single other creator in New Zealand or Australia doing it.

James Doumtsis is an Australian bowhunter, veterinarian and co-founder of Twin Elements alongside his brother Ayden. Twin Elements runs a podcast, YouTube channel and website covering bowhunting and the outdoors across Australia and the US. Their Montana elk series "Against All Odds" is on YouTube now.

In this episode James talks about burning eight years of points on a single elk tag and what it takes to physically prepare for 25 days in the mountains. He gets into why he thinks most hunters blame the wind when the real mistake happened ten minutes earlier, why shooting hinds is just as hard as shooting stags and why most people aren't doing it enough, and what it actually means to stay in a stalk when everything is telling you to move. He also walks through the three styles of hunting - calling, spot and stalk and ambush - and why the progression through all three matters. Plus he confronted three poachers during this year's roar, took a rifle off them, and they're now facing potential jail time.

Ewan Kyle grew up inside a national park in South Africa. His parents worked for Nature Conservation. He did his schooling at home and in the time he should have been in a classroom he was out in the field with researchers studying crocodiles, gaboon vipers, birds and the big five across the greater iSimangaliso wetlands.

He eventually found his way to guiding on the northernmost estuary in South Africa, and one phone call from Rob Scott at African Waters later, he was on a boat heading into the Ndogo Lagoon in Gabon for the first time. He didn't sleep for three weeks. That was 2017. He's been at Sette Cama ever since.

In this episode Ewan walks Wade through one of the most extraordinary fishing and wildlife destinations on earth - the second biggest lagoon in Africa, where tarpon up to 90 kilos crash mullet, cubera snapper push 50 kilos, bull sharks patrol the shore break, and forest elephants, lowland gorillas, dwarf crocodiles and surfing hippos are just part of the walk to work. Including Frank - a very large, very angry forest elephant with a blind eye, a torn ear, and a personal vendetta against humans.

Tom Trembath isn't your typical boat builder. He grew up in Ghana and Papua New Guinea — his dad moved the family across the world and everywhere they went, they fished. Under Portuguese slave castles on the Ivory Coast. On the Fly River catching black bass no one had told him existed.

He came back to Australia, got a mechanical engineering degree he didn't love, and spent years running construction projects in places he didn't want to be. Then COVID froze the world. Five years later, Merino Boatworks is producing world-class stepped-hull fishing centre consoles out of Cairns, designed by Michael Peters Yacht Design — the same firm behind Formula, Cigarette and Bertram. Vacuum infused, fully cored, built by a tight crew of young men who trained themselves from nothing in a discipline that barely exists in Australia.

The first boat was sold drunk at the Weipa Golf Club over a handshake.

Clint Isaac is the owner and head guide at the Australian Fly Fishing Lodge based in Hinchinbrook, North Queensland Australia. I was up staying at his lodge filming a fly fishing film for a few brands and we decided to sit down for an hour and yarn about all things fly fishing, permit, guide life, business and the difficult nature of the fisher in the Hinchinbrook region. Mike Dames is a South African angler, a very experienced fly fishing guide and conservationist. Mike currently guides for African Waters at their Sette Cama camp in Gabon as well as Mavungana (one of Africas oldest outfitters). In this episode Mike and I chat about his fishing journey that began from the age of 2, his love of fish in general (not just fishing), what guide-life is like and the whole west African experience. Mike has a much deeper understanding of fishing than most, and is a wealth of knowledge on all of its associated topics.
